Emma G. Overton

Emma G. Overton is a focused and dedicated advocate who is committed to ensuring favorable outcomes for her clients. Her emerging practice encompasses general tort defense, commercial litigation, and appellate litigation. As an associate, Emma’s primary responsibilities include conducting legal research, leading and defending depositions, drafting dispositive motions, and assisting with trial preparation.

Prior to joining the firm, Emma gained valuable experience as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the City of Chicago Department of Law and served as a federal judicial law clerk in the Southern District of Indiana.

Emma graduated magna cum laude from Lake Forest College with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Politics and Environmental Studies and a minor in Legal Studies. While at Lake Forest, Emma served as Editor-in-Chief of the Stentor student newspaper and as President of the League for Environmental Awareness and Protection.

Emma earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Law, where she was honored with the Best Oral Advocate Award at the regional level of the New York City Bar Association National Moot Court Competition and completed the Mirza Academy intensive trial advocacy course. She also represented military veterans in a variety of civil legal matters as a 711-licensed student attorney in the Veterans Legal Clinic.

During law school, Emma served as the President of the Women’s Law Society and the Energy and Environmental Law Society. She was named a Celia M. Howard Fellow and received a Leadership Project Scholar Certification, the Dean V Award for Oral Advocacy, and a Rickert Award for Service.
