Overview

Russell’s approach to any case centers on constant investigation. The most effective way to obtain an early dismissal or gain leverage is to work harder and more efficiently than opposing counsel would anticipate. A complete knowledge of the entire case in its wider context strengthens motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation all at once.

Russell earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Wisconsin Law School. While there, he spent two years as a student attorney at the Wisconsin Innocence Project representing incarcerated clients nation-wide with claims of actual innocence. After graduation, Russell represented personal injury plaintiffs at a firm in Madison, Wisconsin and then for several years at a Chicago law firm specializing in product liability and toxic tort claim. He has extensive deposition experience, having conducted hundreds of depositions of plaintiffs, coworkers, and physicians in both toxic tort and other personal injury cases.

At Pretzel & Stouffer, Russell’s diverse practice is focused on the defense of health care professionals, premises & product liability, and commercial litigation. He has handled cases at every stage from inception to trial including discovery, motion practice, and court hearings.

Russell grew up in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, and is proficient in German.
