Sommer is an associate at Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered, where she concentrates her practice on the defense of physicians, healthcare professionals, and healthcare institutions against medical negligence claims. She represents her clients through each phase of the litigation process, from inception through trial. When appropriate, Sommer has negotiated favorable settlements on behalf of her clients.
Sommer earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School, where she was a recipient of the Fred Herzog Scholarship and Edith and Philip Baim Scholarship awards. She was the 2008 recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for her performance in Trial Lawyer: Evidence. While in law school, she served as Managing Editor of The John Marshall Law Review and as a judicial extern for the Honorable Margaret O’Mara Frossard of the First District Illinois Appellate Court. In addition, Sommer was an active participant in the Moot Court program, competing in the National Health Law Moot Court Competition and the Tulane Mardi Gras Invitational National Sports Law Tournament.
In her spare time, Sommer enjoys traveling with her husband and son.
