Attorney Bio

Sommer is an associate at Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered, where she focuses on defending clients in medical liability suits. Her clients include individual physicians, health care institutions and long-term care facilities. She is involved in all aspects of cases, including drafting and arguing dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, and trial preparation. In addition, she has negotiated and obtained favorable settlements for her clients.

Sommer received her law degree from The John Marshall Law School, where she was a Herzog scholar, Baim scholar, dean’s scholar and a recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award® for her performance in the school’s The Trial Lawyer: Evidence course. While in law school, Sommer was managing editor of The John Marshall Law Review and a judicial extern for Illinois Appellate Court Justice Margaret O’Mara Frossard of the 1st District. Sommer was also an active participant in the moot court program, competing in the National Health Law Moot Court Competition and Tulane University’s Mardi Gras Invitational Sports Law Competition.

In her spare time, Sommer enjoys traveling with her husband, Robert.
