Scott is an associate at Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered, defending his clients in counties throughout Illinois and in federal courts. He primarily represents doctors, hospitals, psychologists and nursing homes in professional malpractice lawsuits. In addition, Scott has defended clients in commercial disputes involving engineering inspections and Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) claims. His clients include a large airline, which he has represented in a variety of passenger claims.
Scott has tried nine cases to verdict, and has prepared many more for trial that were favorably resolved before trial because of the defense’s preparation. He enjoys the excitement of taking a case to trial, and believes that there is no better way to evaluate a case than to prepare it for trial.
When he is not working or chasing after his young children, Scott enjoys following politics and reading about the Civil War, particularly the Battle of Gettysburg and Confederate General James Longstreet. He was born and raised in a small town in northwest Illinois.
