Robert is an income partner at Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered, where he focuses on civil litigation. Robert has successfully represented physicians, eye care professionals, hospitals, long-term-care facilities, property owners and an international airline. He has also represented clients in employment law matters and automobile and snowmobile accident litigation. In his years of practice, Robert has taken 11 cases to verdict.
Robert takes pride in giving an all-out effort in each case to gain the best results he can for his clients. Before joining Pretzel & Stouffer, Robert represented a client who was seriously injured in a snowmobile accident in a Wisconsin state court. That case was taken to verdict, and the jury’s award was the largest reported verdict in Wisconsin involving a snowmobile accident. Robert has also taken cases to verdict in the Illinois Human Rights Commission and in Cook County Circuit Court.
Since joining Pretzel & Stouffer, Robert has expanded his practice to include a wide array of health care providers as clients. A significant percentage of these cases are based in federal court. Robert was part of the defense trial team that recently received a not guilty judgment in Cook County for its client, a neurosurgeon, who operated on the wrong level in the patient's spine to remove a herniated disc. This is the first reported case in Cook County where a not guilty judgment was entered in favor of a surgeon who operated at the wrong level.
Outside of work, Robert enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and has been involved in team sports all of his life. In 1987, he was a member of the baseball team that won the Illinois Babe Ruth State Baseball Championship. Robert remains active in team sports and enjoys playing softball, basketball, golf and tennis with his wife, Christine. He is a lifelong resident of the Chicago area.
