Ed has 14 years of legal experience, including preparing complex cases for trial in Illinois’ federal and state courts. His current practice involves all aspects of litigation, including depositions of experts and arguing dispositive motions. He focuses on medical malpractice defense, professional malpractice defense, brokers and agents errors and omissions, commercial litigation, toxic tort defense and product liability. His clients represent sectors including health care, insurance, construction, labor, education and financial services.
Ed’s substantial health care client base has included private hospitals, nursing homes, medical malpractice groups and physicians. He has also established a growing client base of private educational institutions that seek his help with employment and liability issues.
Ed has acted as both lead counsel and second chair for jury trials in the circuit courts of Cook, DuPage, Lake and McHenry counties. This extensive experience includes all aspects of trial work, including arguing pre-trial motions, selecting juries, examining witnesses in court, and making opening and closing arguments. He has also participated in alternative dispute resolutions and settlements.
After attending Loyola University of New Orleans, Ed graduated in 1993 with degrees in broadcast journalism and political science. He was named “Outstanding Broadcasting Graduate” and was news director of the campus radio station. Ed then attended the Loyola University New Orleans School of Law, where he received top student awards in copyright; sports law; and trademark, trade name and unfair competition classes. While in law school, he worked at New Orleans radio station WWL 870 AM and the ABC affiliate TV station, WVUE, where he was a producer and on-air host/reporter.
Before moving to Chicago from New Orleans in 1996, Ed also worked in private law practice, where he represented the mass communications industry and professional athletes.
