Dan has spent his entire legal career at Pretzel & Stouffer, Chartered, joining the firm as a summer associate in 1988. Through the years, he has focused on civil litigation, trying cases to verdict in a variety of areas, including the defense of claims of medical malpractice, products liability, and aviation and transportation litigation. Presently, Dan is litigating primarily in the area of health care, including the defense of hospitals, individual physicians and long-term-care facilities.

Litigating a variety of cases in state and federal court has allowed Dan to develop a unique skill set that has proven invaluable to his clients in the courtroom. He has successfully defended a range of professionals at trial, including neurosurgeons, obstetricians, ophthalmologists, plastic surgeons and anesthesiologists. In addition, he has successfully defended hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities. This experience has led to regular requests for Dan to lecture to physicians and the long-term-care industry.

Dan was born and raised in Country Club Hills, Ill., a far south suburb of Chicago. He and his wife, Maureen, are raising their family in Chicago’s western suburbs. When not at work, Dan can usually be found attending his daughters’ sports events or training for his latest endeavor. He has completed several marathons and a century road bike race, and he plays in regional racquetball tournaments.
