A History of Dedication and Excellence.

A veteran of World War II, Paul Pretzel returned home to Chicago in 1946 and began the process of building a post-war law practice. Recognizing that the need for excellent lawyering is never so great as in the crucible of litigation, Mr. Pretzel determined to concentrate his practice in trial work. In 1947 Ralph Stouffer joined Paul Pretzel and the firm of Pretzel & Stouffer has grown steadily thereafter as a premier litigation firm. Neil Quinn joined the firm in 1959 and enhanced the firm's growing reputation of preeminence in trial advocacy and his leadership still guides us today. Over the years, the lawyers at Pretzel & Stouffer have handled increasingly complex and varied civil litigation and some of its attorneys also handle a wide variety of non-litigation legal matters.

Paul Pretzel recognized that good lawyers would form the backbone of a firm capable of standing the test of time. This principle has sustained the firm for over 60 years. It is a point of great pride at Pretzel & Stouffer that the firm has always had, and continues to have, within its ranks, trial and appellate attorneys who are widely regarded as among the very best our profession has to offer. Following the wise legacy of Paul Pretzel, we continue the same dedication to seeking attorneys with superior skill and character for that is our mainstay. We continue to dedicate ourselves to the challenging work we encounter as trial lawyers as that work defines us and explains our tenacious nature as a law firm.
